Three-Car Crash Closes Section of Route 25A

Both drivers taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center.

A three-car accident closed Route 25A in Smithtown from West Main Street to Avalon Gardens on Tuesday afternoon.

The Smithtown Fire Department and Suffolk County Police responded to the call, which came in at 4:03 p.m., for an accident involving a blue Ford F150 pickup truck and a silver Mercedes Benz outside of Avalon Gardens, according to the fire department.

A third car, a white Honda Accord, was involved in the accident but only received minor damages.

The driver of the Mercedes Benz, an unidentified woman, was taken by helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center. The driver of the Ford F150, an unidentified man, was taken by ambulance.

Both drivers were treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Due to slick traffic conditions from a gas spill, the fire department called in a sand truck to cover the portion of the road.
