UPDATE: Trees Removed From Power Lines on Moriches Road in St. James

There is still no estimated time for when the road will re-open as of 5 p.m.

UPDATE 5 p.m.: Asplundh Tree Expert Co. workers are on Morices Road in St. James cutting down the trees tangled in power lines from the storm that hit Wednesday night into Thursday morning. 

Workers at the scene said they are waiting on LIPA wire crews to come replaces wires and that there is no estimated time on when the road will re-open.

A section of Moriches Road in St. James is closed after a tree collapsed onto power lines during the storm that hit Wednesday night into Thursday morning. 

A Suffolk County Police officer at the scene said the section of Moriches Road from Harbor Hill Road to Route 25A has been closed since 6:30 a.m. The officer also said LIPA has been called, but they were given no estimated time of arrival.

An officer from each police department is stationed at each end of the road. Neither officer at the scene from either department could give an estimated time of when the road would re-open.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
