Two Hospitalized in Sunday Accident

The car smashed into a tree on Route 111, according to the Smithtown Fire Department.

Two people were sent to Stony Brook Medical Center early Sunday morning after an accident on Route 111, according to the Smithtown Fire Department.

The fire department said a call was received at 1:12 a.m. for an accident on Route 111 at Darling Avenue. The vehicle, a blue coupe, was travelling northbound on Route 111 where it hit a tree. To get to the driver the fire department had to remove the car door.

The driver and a passenger were taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center. Names, injuries and the condition of the two in the car have not been disclosed.
