Woman Robbed in ShopRite Parking Lot

Incident occurred behind the Hauppauge supermarket last week.

A woman walking to her vehicle behind the ShopRite in Hauppauge was robbed of her pocketbook last week, according to Suffolk Police.

Police said a male in his late teens or early 20s approached the woman in the parking lot around 6:43 p.m. last Friday and grabbed her purse. A struggle ensued and the woman's jacket was cut with what may have been a knife, police said.

The robber fled with the pocketbook, but then left it in the parking lot after being chased by several witnesses, police said.

The robber is described as being about 5-foot-9, 160 pounds and he was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, a cap and blue jeans at the time, police said. No arrests have been made.
