Are You Having an Illegal Picnic? Take Our Smithtown Code Quiz

See if you can answer these questions about town and village codes.

Municipal codes are voluminous records of rules and regulations passed by town and village board members over the years.

But what exactly are in our local codes?

Much of them pertain to land use — zoning regulations, development capacities, etc. Other parts regulate activities on preserved land in town, other parts on certain industries within Smithtown, and of course part of it outlines responsibilities of certain town government capacities.

We thought we'd take a look at various codes within Smithtown — including the town itself and its incorporated villages — and test our readers' knowledge about some of the more particular parts of it.

If you know the answers to all of these questions, you probably work in code enforcement or in a clerk's office.

We'll post the answers in a few days, so check back soon.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
