The Eaton’s Neck Coast Guard Station will be kicking off National Safe Boating Week (NSBW) on Saturday May 19st with an open house at the Eaton’s Neck Coast Guard Station from 9 am to 4 pm.

Activities will include demonstration of emergency boating
equipment, knot tying, radio protocol, paddlecraft demonstrations, and tours of the Coast Guard station vessels, lighthouse, communication room, and newly inaugurated boat house.

Boat owners of all types can also get a complimentary vessel exam at the Open House conducted by The Coast Guard Auxiliary. The no-penalty, courtesy, examination of recreational boats helps ensure boaters understand state and federal safety requirements and that boaters have the required and recommended safety equipment before heading out onto the water.

The Coast Guard Auxiliary will also be holding a 4 hour paddleboat safety class starting at 1pm (fee $20). Pre-registration is recommended. Musical entertainment will be provided at 1pm and 3 pm by the Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 2207 Concert Band, weather permitting.

For more information on the day’s events contact Terry Kinch, Vice Commander, Division 22, United States Coast Guard Auxiliary, at 631- 271-2503 or email: eatonsneckopenhouse@hotmail.com.
