PHOTOS: Demo, Repairs Start at Collapsed Lumber Yard

Former Sider Lumber spot had buckled under the weight of nearly 30 inches of snow.

Workers have begun to rehab a damaged St. James lumber yard that had started to collapse under the weight of heavy snow from February's blizzard.

As of Friday, much of the building was taken down and the rubble placed in dumpsters.

John Bongino, director of Smithtown's building department, told Patch this week that permits to fix the structure were issued.
