Smithtown Notebook: PetSmart and New Steakhouse to Enter Town

Pet food and supply mega-store PetSmart, which according to the company website has opened more than 1,160 stores across the United States and Canada since the company’s 1994 inception, will open its next location locally as the town board issued a site plan approval for the company to start renovating a storefront in Lake Grove.

According to the Smithtown Planning Board, PetSmart will renovate a storefront in the Bob’s Discount Furniture Store building. The approval for building was decided unanimously and PetSmart is looking to move into the location this year.

The former Boulder Creek Steakhouse at the corner of Nesconset Highway and Mount Pleasant Road will soon house a new steakhouse, this time catering to a fine-dining clientele according to owners, as the Town of Smithtown board unanimously approved a site plan for restaurateur Anthony Scotto to renovate the location.

Arthur Viana, co-owner of the forthcoming establishment, said the new restaurant is a fine-dining establishment that will serve prime dry-aged steak and sushi.

According to site plans filed with the Smithtown Planning Board, a 3,011 square foot addition to the existing building was approved, bringing the total square footage of the building to 9,960 square feet, and a 1,751 square foot outdoor dining area will also be added to the restaurant.

Upcoming Town Meetings

The lone meeting for the town this week is the Planning Board meeting, which will be held Wednesday, April 20 at 8 p.m. at the Smithtown Senior Center.
