Smithtown Notebook: Sod and Bicycle Locker Purchases and Parade Readings

Here's a rundown of what took place at town hall this week in the Town of Smithtown.

Town Purchases and Approvals

The Town of Smithtown board approved the purchase of sod for DeLalio Sod Farms, LLC at the latest regular board meeting on Tuesday, April 5.

During the Tuesday, April 5 meeting, the town board approved the transfer of ownership and operation of bicycle locker facilities to the Town of Smithtown from the New York State Department of Transportation, which allows Supervisor Patrick Vecchio to execute customer license agreements and for Safety Officer Matthew Lankowicz and Environmental Analyst of the Department of Environment and Waterways Richard Kitt to attend an "Asbestos Inspector" course.

Town of Smithtown Parades, Fairs and Runs

First readings were heard for the Tackan Elementary School PTA Family Walk/Run and the Nesconset Chamber of Commerce Annual Spring Craft Fair. Second readings will be heard for these on Thursday, April 28 at the Smithtown Senior Center at 7 p.m.

Second readings were held on Tuesday, April 5 for five separate parades and walk/runs – VFW Elwood Commack Post 9263 Memorial Day Parade, Ronkonkoma Rotary 5K Run Around Lake and Fun Run, Smithtown Chamber of Commerce 5K Running of the Bull and 1k Family Fun Run, Leukemia/Lymphoma Society 5K Run/Walk and the Sgt. John W. Cooke VFW Post 395 Memorial Day Parade.


Upcoming Town Meetings

The lone town meeting this coming week is the Board of Zoning Appeals Meeting, which will take place on Tuesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at the Smithtown Senior Center, located at 420 Middle Country Road.
