Town to Hold Public Hearings on Kings Park Soccer Fields

Here's a breakdown of the agenda for Thursday's town board meeting.

The town board will meet Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the Eugene A. Cannataro Smithtown Senior Citizen Center, and here's a breakdown of what they'll be discussing.

Public Hearings

The town board is set to hear four items on Thursday night's regular meeting agenda.

A hearing will be held for Santilli Commercial Developers regarding a special exception for commercial public recreation use. The exception would be for outdoor soccer fields and indoor batting cages, which would be located on Old Northport Road in Kings Park.

Three of the public hearing items involve town code or local laws. The board will hold a hearing on possible ammendments to the building zone ordinance as it relates to site plan review, Chapter 322; subdivision of land as it relates to preliminary layout and final plot, Chapter 248; and the local law involving trees, #3-2012.

Parades, Runs and Walks

There are six correspondence items on the Thursday night agenda involving local parades, runs and walks.

Second readings will be held for the VFW Elwood-Commack Post 9263 Memorial Day Parade, the Kings Park High School Homecoming Parade, Saints Philip and James Roman Catholic Church Annual Carnival and the Tackan Elementary School PTA Family Run/Walk.

First readings will be held for the Friends & Farmers, Inc. Farmer's Market and the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Volunteer 5K Run.

Other Agenda Items

The town wil discuss seven personnel items on Thursday night. The personnel items include seasonal apointments and reappointments, pay rate changes and an extended medical leave of absence for a town employee.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
