4 Colleges Announce Local Graduates

Marist College, the University of Scranton, Cazenovia College and Saint Anselm College have 16 total former Smithtown students with bachelor and master degrees.

While high school seniors are set to walk, some students that walked for high graduation not too long ago are now graduating college. Marist College, the University of Scranton, Cazenovia College and Saint Anselm College have announced graduates coming from Smithtown and Nesconset. 

Marist, a New York liberal arts college, had a number of local students graduate in the class of 2012. Here are the former Smithtown alumni who are now college graduates:

  • Michelle Carpenter, Smithtown (Bachelor of Arts, Communication)
  • Lauren Cirillo, Smithtown (Bachelor of Arts, Psychology/Special Education)
  • Dominic Coppola, Smithtown (Masters Degree, Public Administration)
  • Amanda Deturris, Smithtown (Bachelor of Professional Studies, Fashion Merchandising)
  • Andrew Meyer, Smithtown (Bachelor of Science, Business Administration)
  • Emily Moran, Smithtown (Bachelor of Arts, Communication)
  • Vanessa Rannazzisi, Smithtown (Bachelor of Arts, Communication)
  • Kristyn Sarro, Smithtown (Bachelor of Science, Biology)
  • Jennifer Williams, Smithtown (Bachelor of Professional Studies, Fashion Merchandising)

From Scranton, located in northeast Pennsylvania, are three local graduates:

  • Joseph Clifford, Nesconset (Bachelor Degree, Computer Information Stystems)
  • Kelsi Johnson, Smithtown (Bachelor Degree, Psychology and Communication)
  • Candice Clifford, Nesconset (Bachelor Degree, Counseling and Human Services)

Cazenovia, an undergraduate liberal arts college in Central New York with two local graduates in the class of 2012:

  • Jamie Sciortino, Smithtown (Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Communications)
  • Dylan West, Smithtown (Bachelor of Professional Studies, Business Management)

Saint Anselm, the Manchester, NH, Benedictine Catholic liberal arts college, announced two local graduates: 

  • Jessica Ewald, Smithtown (History)
  • Nicholas Rossi, Smithtown (Business)

Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
