Knox School Grads Pick Top Colleges

School says 39 seniors were accepted to 83 colleges, with a few going to some of the most prestigious universities in the world.

With the end of the academic year approaching, The Knox School in St. James is preparing to send their graduating seniors to colleges … good colleges, in fact.

According to the private boarding school, only three students from the graduating class of 2013 will not be going to college, but instead will be returning to their home countries to continue schooling there.

The remaining 39 seniors were accepted to 83 colleges, with a few going to some of the most prestigious universities in the world, the school said.

Kings Park student Trevor Henderson was accepted to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, while Smithtown's Jim Liu was accepted to Stanford University. Setauket's Isabella Sobalvarro was accepted to Cornell University, while Alexandra Edwards, also of Setauket, was accepted to Boston University.

Students were also accepted to:

Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1), Stanford University (1), Cornell University (3), Carnegie Mellon University (2), New York University (2), University of Rochester (3), University California, Davis (3), University of Miami (2), Penn State University (5), University of Illinois (1), Boston University (4), Syracuse University (5) and University of Pittsburgh (2)

The school said this year's class has also earned $400,000 in scholarships and grants towards their college educations.
