Nesaquake Cheerleaders Cheer for a Cure Against Breast Cancer

School team raises more than $2,500 to fight breast cancer, seeks more community help.

A Nesaquake Middle School team is fueling the fighter against breast cancer this fall.

Nesaquake Middle School's cheerleading team has raised more then $2,500 for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk being held at Jones Beach this Saturday with their coach Wendy Scherer.

"It is such a great cause and the girls are very excited for all that they have raised," Scherer said.

The team has hosted multiple fundraisers over recent weeks including working with Salon Dee La Rosa, off Route 25a in St. James, to help raise $1,305 for the cause.

The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk, hosted by the American Cancer Society, is a one-day event aimed as bringing together breast cancer survivors and those who support breast cancer awareness in a walk to help fund research for a cure.

Those interesting in making a donation to show support for the Nesaquake Middle School Cheerleaders should visit their team fundraising page, found here.
