The drive brought in more than 750 books.

To help the kids at Central Islip's Francis J. O'Neil Elementary School, a Smithtown High School East senior put together a book drive, resulting in the accumulation of more than 750 books. Alexandra Tsvitis organized the drive because of the district's recent budget cuts and local libraries that currently have no funds available to purchase more books.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
