PHOTO: Middle School Students Complete Career Exploration Program

The seventh grade students will be able to see if their career choice based on their personality type changes throughout their educational experience.

A group of Smithtown Central School District counselors completed Career Exploration Program with seventh grade students throughout the district.

Counselors Jennifer Harnett and Kimberly Richardson from Nesaquake Middle School; Tom Riviello, Sandy Stone and Marissa Urso frmo Great Hollow Middle School; and Nancy Koch and Emily Bootle from Accompsett Middle School, helped the students explore John Holland’s Theory of Career Choice where people choose an occupation that matched their personality type to experience a higher level of success and job satisfaction.

The seventh graders completed an online assessment to discover their personality type – also known as the Holland Code – stored the information on a site on the student portal, and continue to work with the Theory eighth grade and also in 10th grade to see if the code has changed or remained the same over the years.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
