East, West with 7 National Scholarship Finalists

The district boasts seven finalists from the 16,000 National Merit Scholarship semifinalists throughout the country.

Seven seniors from the Smithtown Central School District are now finalists in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.

The list was narrowed down to 16,000 semifinalists in September 2011 from the nearly 1.5 million students throughout the country that were screened for the program by taking the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
