PHOTOS: Mt. Pleasant Kids Journey Into American Indian Territories

The kids learn about ways Native Americans used to live off of the land and more.

Fourth grade students from Mt. Pleasant Elementary School travelled back in time recently to see how Native American's lived.

As part of their "Journeys Into American Indian Territories" studies, the fourth graders learned about Indian customs and beliefs, made clay pots, played native games and even chose class leaders the way the Iroquois did.

Check out these photos from the studies, courtesy of the Smithtown Central School District.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
