Smithtown School District Celebrates Halloween with Parades, Spooky Hallways, Safety Tips
The Halloween events were festive and promoted important safety tips for students.
Halloween spirit was everywhere in the Smithtown Central School District Friday as students, faculty and administrators celebrated the holiday. Smithtown Elementary hosted a Red Cross "Lucky 13" event, during which the Suffolk County Red Cross shared important safety reminders for Halloween while the students participated in a Rag-a-muffin parade in costume.
At High School East, student clubs and organizations invited elementary students to"Spooky Hallways," where they organized activities for them like Halloween themed crafts, spooky storytelling, an obstacle course and a haunted house put together by the Art Honor Society.
At High School West, clubs sponsored interactive stations meant to replicate the experience of trick-or-treating. Visitors to both high school events were encouraged to bring canned food donations and Borella Farm Stand in St. James donated all of the pumpkins, corn stalks and mums featured at both high schools.
