Freee temperatures and fears of icy roads have led to a delayed start on Tuesday for Smithtown students.

Smithtown Central School District announced it will have a 2-hour delayed opening on Tuesday morning. All schools  days will start two hours later than normal, with regularly scheduled closing.

School officials said this means there will be no Town of Smithtown School Age Child Care Program on Tuesday.

How is this breaking news when we got the call at 7 p.m. LAST night..

The high temperature for today will be about 14 degrees. It was about 7 degrees at 9:30 this morning. I don't think opening schools 2 hours late will help with the icy roads.
