West, East Produce National Merit Scholarship Winners

Alexander Barnes and Aniksha Balamurugan take home scholarships.

The Smithtown Central School District has two National Merit Scholarship winners, selected from more than 15,000 finalists.

Smithtown High School West senior Alexander Barnes and Smithtown High School East senior Aniksha Balamurugan took home the scholarships.

Barnes, who is on his way to Georgetown University following high school, was named a $2500 scholarship winner. Balamurugan, who will be on her way to Dartmouth College after the school year, was named a corporate-sponsored Merit Scholarship winner, one of roughly 1,000 high school seniors to win the scholarship. The corporate-sponsored Estee and Joseph Lauder Scholarship was put together by Estee Lauder Companies.

The announced back in February that in the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Superintendent is making $40,000 MORE than the last one ... unless you don't count $260,000 a year aRead More salary! I am not making $40,000 MORE than last year... is anyone else??? VOTE NO and let's get real. Time to send them packing.
