West Lineman Commits to Play Football at Sacred Heart University

Matt Morganelli Jr. makes verbal commitment to play for the Pioneers; will sign letter of intent in February.

A standout offensive lineman at has made a commitment on where to play college football.

Matt Morganelli Jr. has made a verbal commitment to play football for Sacred Heart University. The guard and former team captain will make his commitment official in a "Letter of Intent" signing ceremony Feb. 1.

Among Morganelli's accomplishments on the field at West are making First Team All Division 2011, the Smithtown Booster Club 2011 Football MVP, Iron Bull Combine Winner 2011, Starting Defensive Tackle 2011 PAL Suffolk All-Star Game and New York State Sportswriters Association 2011 All State Second-Team Offense.

Steven Tringali, who also photographs West's games, called the offensive line "Long Island football's best kept secret." Tringali further gushed over the play of the offensive line and Morganelli by saying "behind every great running game is an even greater line that is so often left in the shadows ... they very rarely seem to get the glory."
