West Student Wins German Scholarship, Will Study Abroad
Christopher Byrne will be taking classes in Germany next school year.
A Smithtown West High School sophomore has taken home the Congress Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship, which will send him to study in Germany.
Christopher Byrne won the scholarship, which was founded in 1983 and sponsored by both the U.S. and German governments. Byrne is set to stay with a German host family from September of this year to July of next year and will be taking classes at the German Gymnasium, a college prep high school.
