Long Island Greenbelt Trail: HIKE FOR LIFE 2012

32 mile, 11 mile, 5 mile, and 3 mile options

6:30 AM – 32 miles – arduous – varied – Info: Shari, 516-721-0223.

1:00 PM – 11 miles – fast – varied

3:00 PM – 5 miles – moderate – varied

3:30 PM – 3 miles – easy to moderate – hilly

The fifth annual hike event for the NY Blood Center; four levels of hikes to maximize participation; hikers, hike leaders, sweeps, car drivers, and other volunteers are needed; individual pledges and corporate sponsorship encouraged.

For 32 miles, experienced, long-distance hikers only, please, for a traverse of our entire L.I. Trail; hike begins at Field 7, Heckscher St. Pk.; hikers will receive a ride back at the end.

11 mile option starts at the Greenbelt office (see directions at top of schedule) and joins the hikers for the northern third.

5 mile option starts at Smithtown Landing Country Club and completes the upper section.

Shorter, family-friendly 3 mile hike meets at east end of Field 4, Sunken Meadow St. Pk. for a late-afternoon walk along the bluffs, and connects with the long-distance hikers for the final stretch; e-mail or call to register for all hikes and to see how you can help.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
