Since November of 2011, the Department of Community Services at North Shore-LIJ Southside Hospital has been offering free quarterly community awareness forums called Ask the Doctor at the YMCA Boulton Center in Bay Shore.  Four of Southside Hospital’s physicians serve on the panel, Dr. Jean Cacciabaudo, Chief of Cardiology, Dr. Tochi Iroku-Malize, Chairman of Family Medicine for the North Shore-LIJ Health System, Dr. Scott Wodicka, Director of Surgery and Dr. Brian Blaustein, an emergency physician at Southside Hospital. The panel interacts with guest experts relating to the topic and provides the audience members an opportunity to ask questions.

The next Ask the Doctor program will discuss concussions on September 27th from 6:00PM-9:00PM.  The guest speakers for the event will be former NFL Green Bay Packer and Super Bowl Champion, Gary Brown, Dr. Rosanna Sabini a brain injury physiatrist and Dr. Kristin Demertzis a neuropsychologist.

We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be madeRead More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
