Kyle Keenan, a former Smithtown High School West lacrosse standout, put in a goal and had an assist Saturday in the 10-8 victory for the U.S. U19 team over Canada in Finland for the gold in the Federation of International Lacrosse U19 World Championships.
While tied 2-2 at the end of the first quarter, the U.S. team broke the game open in the second quarter scoring four goals, while Canada was held scoreless.
Keenan came up big for the U.S. team throughout pool play, especially in the 20-1 victory over England where he scored a team high four goals.
The attackman scored two goals and added three assists in the quarterfinal round against Germany and had a goal against the Iroquois team to get to the championship match.
