Schools Tighten Security for West Football's Playoff Game

School officials issue advisory against backpacks, alcohol.

Smithtown school officials have issued alerts notifying students that security measures will be put in place for Friday's football playoffs.

The No. 2-seeded West Bulls varsity football team will host No. 3-seeded East Islip Redmen in the quarter finals of Suffolk's Division II on Friday at 6 p.m.

School officials have issued an alert to students and spectators warning that backpacks will not be permitted at the playoff game. Their strict warning says "Do not bring them to the game, you will not be allowed in."

The district also announced plans to check all liquids being brought to the payoffs games with a alcohol detection device. Their statement reads, "All containers in the bleachers must be open and the caps discarded before admittance will be allowed."

Friday's game promises to be a good one as the West Bulls, 8-1-0, look to avenge the Redmen eliminating their fellow Smithtown East from the playoffs. If the Bulls can get past the Redmen, they’ll be heading to Stony Brook for a chance to win it all.
