Smithtown East Swimmer to Compete at Nationals
Senior Ben Cono will head to Tennessee for national competition Dec. 5 - 7.
A High School East athlete will have the chance to swim for national gold this upcoming weekend in Tennessee.
Ben Cono, a senior at Smithtown High School East, will be traveling to swim at the AT&T Winter Nationals competition in Knoxville, TN. He will be competing in the 100-yard and 200-yard breaststroke on Dec. 5 - 7 at the University of Tennessee.
Those interested can watch this Smithtown local compete in the Winter Nationals using the Meet Mobile App, which will be providing event updates. USA Swimming may choose to broadcast the meet.
Cono have previously competed on the national level in the Olympic Trial cuts in the 100-meter and 200-meter breaststroke this summer. He plans to continue competing and training for High School East's varsity boys swim team this winter.
In the future, Cono has signed a letter of commitment to swim for North Carolina State University in Division I earlier this year.
