Smithtown West Football Takes Down Top-Seeded Islip

Logan Grego leads the West Bulls offense with 242 yards rushing and 2 touchdowns.

The Smithtown West Bulls varsity football team charged past the top-seeded Islip to continue their winning steak in Suffolk's Division II. 

Smithtown West Bulls beat Islip, 35-21, in front of a packed house of more than 2,000 spectators on Friday night, Newsday reports.

Halfback Logan Greco led the West Bull's offensive charge with 242 rushing yards over 32 carries, scoring 2 touchdowns on Friday night. Greco made each moment count from the moment he stepped on the turf, making a 9-yard run on the Bulls' opening drive to put Smithtown on the board first. 

Smithtown West sophomore Austin Baiardi also stepped it up, taking over for the team's injured center Dan Farrell. 

Smithtown West continued its winning streak to improve it's record to 4-0, handing Islip their first loss of the 2013 season. 

Next week, the West Bulls will host Riverhead for their homecoming match on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 4 p.m. A parade and celebrations will take place prior to the game.
