Weekly Sports Scoreboard: Football Teams Take Home Wins

Here's our wrap-up of this some recent school sports scores.

Fall sports are in full swing and Smithtown East and West was out on the fields this weekend. See below for our wrap-up of scores.

On the football field, Smithtown West made it two straight victories – and two straight shutouts – after starting off the season 0-3, with a 16-0 win over Walt Whitman during their homecoming game. East got back in the winning column to improve to 4-1. After a loss last week to Walt Whitman, East beat Newfield, 14-7.

East will host their own homecoming this weekend, when West Babylon comes to town for a 2 p.m. kickoff on Saturday. Meanwhile West travels to East Islip to play at the same time.

In soccer, Smithtown West boys' soccer topped Centereach, 1-0, to stay tied atop the League III standings. The win brought the squad to 5-1 in league play and 5-3-1 overall. East tied East Islip last Thursday and now stand in the middle of the League III standings at 3-3-1.

East girls' team beat North Babylon on the soccer field last week, 3-0, to improve to 2-5 in league play and 4-6-1 overall. West lost to West Islip, 2-1, last Wednesday, falling to 3-3 in League III and 3-4-1 on the season.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
