Snair Slams Vecchio on Infrastructure Report

Last week the Long Island Contractors’ Association wrote a letter to Supervisor Vecchio imploring him to take action to reverse his “record of neglect in properly investing in (Smithtown’s) highway infrastructure.” Based on a month long analysis, Smithtown stands as the “statistical poster child of road infrastructure abandonment.” Supervisor Vecchio has been asleep at the wheel and done nothing to fix our infrastructure. Smithtown can’t afford to endure another four-years of the Vecchio administration.

According to LICA Executive Director Marc Herbst, Smithtown shows the most severe drop in road improvement spending per resident over the past four years amongst all other towns on Long Island. Furthermore, the investment figure per resident in 2012 was less than half the amount in 2008. The five-year average of investment in Smithtown is also dead last with an expenditure of $24.75 per resident.

The deterioration and lack of attention to our roads here in Smithtown by Supervisor Vecchio is deplorable. The supervisor’s do-nothing policies will be a relic of the past once I take office.
