Photo of the Day: A Sign of Summer's End

A spraypainted sign announces the end of Smithtown Special Library District's free summer concert series.

There's a few signs that summer is winding down as back-to-school marks the return of fall, but some are more obvious than others.

A spraypainted piece of plywood leaning against the Smithtown branc of the Smithtown Special Library District announces "Concerts Over."

The sign references the Smithtown Special Library District's  summer concert series, a series of seven free public concerts, held on the library's front lawn despite it being closed for construction. The concert series wrapped up on Aug. 16 with a performance by Big Shot, a Billy Joel tribute band.

There are more than 36 free summer concerts held throughout the Town of Smithtown from June 22 through Aug. 31.

So there's still a chance to hear live music, sing and dance along under the stars at Musical Moments in Kings Park, held at the Russ Savatt Park on Aug. 31.

Tell us, did you attend any of the free summer concerts hosted in the Town of Smithtown? If so, what was your favorite performance?
