PHOTOS: Heat Sends Locals to Town Pool

Residents cooled off at Smithtown Landing on Friday. Do you often hit the municipal pool?

As temperatures hit the high nineties on Fridays, locals jumped in the cool waters of the town pools at .

The town-operated facility features three pools, a one-foot-deep children's pool, and shallow lap pool with a deep diving end and another shallow pool with a water slide.

Smithtown residents who have two-year permits pay $4 apiece to swim, while children or seniors pay $3. Seasonal passes are also available for unlimited use, costing $95 a year for adults, $60 for children and $250 for a family.

Do you swim at Smithtown Landing?

Wish they'd invest in some lounge chais. Don't we pay enough taxes a few more freestanding umbrellas would be a welcome addition as well, not everyone who wants/needs shade wants to sit on a picnic bench! Other than that, the pool is a safe and fun part of our summer.

Your tax dollars????really???? If you pay property taxes you would relize that about 7% of your tax bill is for "town services" that's for all your parks, beaches , highway services....you should go scrutinize your school taxes, that's about 70% of your tax bill. The pool is a great bang for the buck.

I do pay property taxes, that's why, for what we all pay in this town, we should be able to have some shade at the "town" pool ~ not asking for country club things just some umbrellas would be nice, just need a little shade for health reasons and comfort. And, I did say that we enjoy the pool. It would be nice if people on this patch would stop always blaming school taxes and the teachers for everything that is wrong with the town, taxes, etc.....

Uh.....O.k. Good for you.

Well, the teachers do get paid quite a bit...

knowbodys blaming teachers....YOU complained about your tax dollars and i pointed out that i think we get a great bang for the buck from our town portion of our property taxes. i also pointed out that the majority of drain on our pockets is from the school portion of our property taxes. never once did i blame our teachers....truth is i think the administrators are raping the residents. i swear i think theres a handful of people here on the patch that post when they are drunk.

You are absolutely right pj. Its comparing apples to oranges. Assisted living is for the elderlyRead More that cant take care of themselves. What noise is created. They are indoors and at the age where driving may not be an option. And the facility faces Route 25A. A main corridor that has been used as a main road for over 50 years. A road that has gas stations, bars, hospitals, nursing homes, retail stores and high schools presently on it. Why not an assisted living.

Exactly. Don't see a problem having it. Many of them don't even go outdoors.

We have an assisted living center right next to our neighborhood. For the most part it is quiet,Read More there is not a lot more traffic, it even looks nice. I will take it over another strip mall, supermarket, bar any day . Like the previous poster wrote, it serves our community.
