The Smithtown Highway Department is responsible for maintaining and improving over 470 miles of roads, drainage systems, recharge basins, sidewalks, driveways and curbs in the Smithtown area. With a fleet of approximately 200 vehicles, the department annually undertakes $4 million worth of projects, in addition to regular snow and ice removal, patching, street sweeping and leaf cleanup.
