The Senior Citizens Department offers a variety of services for Smithtown seniors including daily lunches, athletic activities, craft classes and monthly trips. It also oversees the Meals on Wheels program and other services like the residential repair program, which helps seniors deal with minor home fixes. The department also sponsors a low-cost transportation service that brings seniors to medical appointments, the mall and other shopping areas in the township. To take part in the transportation program, residents must call 631-265-8811 or 631-265-8826 at least one week in advance to reserve space. The fee is $1 each way.
