Amy Patton is a writer, reporter and editor who has covered local events, celebrity, politics and community news for over 15 years. 

Her love of journalism began in high school where she penned a weekly lifestyle and events column. Years later, after much travel overseas, including a year abroad in Australia, she traveled to the northeast to attend the State University of New York at Stony Brook where Ms. Patton graduated in 1993 with a BA in philosophy. 

After visiting the East End subsequent to graduation, she vowed to find a way to make "this beautiful place" a permanent home. Two years as an editor for Dan's Papers in Bridgehampton was followed by 12 years of writing, reporting and serving as Arts and Entertainment Editor for the Independent News Group in East Hampton. Restaurant reviews in the area and chef profiles were a continuing theme of her coverage for the local weekly. 

She authored several lifestyle pieces for Newsday including Living In: Westhampton and worked as a contributing writer for Fodor's Travel Guide, Where to Weekend Around New York City.

Over the years, Ms. Patton has interviewed numerous celebrities for publication including Julie Andrews, Howie Mandel, San Simon (co-creator of "The Simpsons"), comedienne Paula Poundstone, Lauren Weisberger ("The Devil Wears Prada"), Rita Rudner. Molly Shannon (SNL) as well as hundreds of local Hamptons artists.

Ms. Patton is married and her 8 year-old daughter Samantha attends elementary school in Westhampton. She currently resides in Hampton Bays.
