Former Carpetland of Smithtown to Become Real Estate Office

Signature Premiere Properties to renovate building into two-story office space by February 2014.

A long-standing Smithtown Main Street storefront will soon be getting a makeover and a new tenant.

The former Carpetland of Smithtown will be taken over by Signature Premiere Properties, a commercial and residential real estate agency is expanding to build their fifth branch location on Long Island.

"We have four branch locations and looking to branch out a little further, it’s the next natural part of our market. We are in Huntington and Northport and were looking to move a bit further east" said Marisa Brinn, operations manager for Signature Premiere Properties.

Brinn said Signature plans to renovate the space completely to create an 8,000-square-foot office space on both the first and second floor of the building.

"It will become one of our biggest branches," she said.

In addition to the interior renovations, Brinn said Signature Premiere Properties intends to renovate the classic facade left behind by Carpetland, which has been located in Smithtown since 1955.

Signature Premiere Properties hopes to have the renovations completed and be open for business by February 2014.

"We are really looking forward to it and being in the village," Brinn said.

Signature Premiere Properties was created by Peter Morris, and has grown from 1 agent to more than 200 real estate professionals over the last six years. They currently have four branches in Cold Spring Harbor, Dix Hills, Huntington and Northport.
