Hurricane Sandy, Slow Winter Forces FeelGoods Cafe to Close

The St. James eatery initially announced it would re-open in April, but has since decided not to open its doors again.

FeelGoods Cafe, the St. James eatery known for its "EdgyBurgers," has closed its doors.

In an email interview, FeelGoods Cafe co-owner Nicole Lawrence said that losses stemming from Hurricane Sandy paired with the typical and expected slower business traffic in the winter, led to making a decision to close until April 1. However since making the decision to close until the spring the owners decided a permanent closing was inevitable.

We are sorry to update you with unfortunate news. While initially there was hope to keep the cafe going and re-open after a normally-slow winter, the last two weeks has been a time of serious "business soul-searching". Sadly, it's just become clear that closing is the difficult but necessary move. It is with heavy hearts to announce this to you, our loyal customers, who've been an incredible support over the years. We are so sorry to disappoint you. Unfortunately, after exhausting all possible options, it's a fact we have to face.

The Facebook status also states that the online store will be suspended since it was supported through the cafe.

While the storefront is no longer, the owners are looking to continue to sell their EdgyBurger line, with updates provided on its own product Facebook page, separate from the cafe's page.
