Purity Spa Prepares to Open Friday in St. James

Smithtown and St. James residents looking for a bit of pampering will find there's a new spa opening in time for the stressful holiday season. 

St. James resident Kerri Wilson will celebrate the grand opening of Purity Spa in St. James Galleria on Friday, Nov. 15. It is located at 556 North Country Road in St. James. 

"I'm really excited, it's always been a dream of mine," Wilson said. 

Wilson is a former esthetician at T. Carlton's Spalon in Nesconset for 9 years, before it closed suddenly in early August. It wasn't until the shock wore off, according to Wilson, that she realized the uncertainty ahead also presented an opportunity. 

"I thought, 'Why not take the risk?' It's an opportunity for me. I have an established clientele and I'll never be disappointed if I know I gave it a shot," she said. 

Purity Spa will offer an array of services including body wraps, facials, various massage therapies and waxing provided by Wilson and her staff of 10 employees, including many familiar faces from T. Carlton's. 

"I feel very honored the people of T. Carlton's have established such relationship with me that they are willing to come work with me....I feel very blessed we are going to be a family again," she said. 

Part of what was so important to Wilson at T. Carlton's was the special relationship between both the staff and its community, including her own personal clients, many of whom she has kept in touch with. She hopes to recreate that warm feeling at Purity Spa. 

The new St. James day spa will feature Spa Technologies, a line of botanical and seaweed-based skin and body care products. It is 100 percent paraben-free without fillers, according to Wilson, which is important to her in staying close to a green, organic offerings. 

In the future, Wilson is hoping to continue growing her business, adding jobs including hiring of nail technicians to further round out her day spa's offerings.
