St. James Galleria Plans for October Grand Opening

The first of 22 suites filled by health, beauty and wellness professionals will open door to customers.

A former James fitness center will become the new home of a health and wellness hotspot next month.

Art Garritano, owner of the former O's Food and Wine Bar, said he will be moving forward with opening G Boutiques on North Country Road in Saint James this October. G Boutiques will be a collection of professional suites rented to health, beauty and wellness professionals.

“Health, beauty and wellness professionals that have been in the business for a while, I’m putting them into business, their own business,” Garritano said.

Garritano will open 22 suites in the former home of Energy Fitness, located at 556 Route 25A between Ancient Ginger and Gymboree. The suites are open to people interested in becoming owners of their own businesses without all of the overhead costs.

"There's no building prices. Just a few weeks security and rent, and you are off," Garritano said. "You have the opportunity to own your own business, set your own prices, make your own hours."

The business model of G Boutiques comes from the West Coast and Europe, according to Garritano, where health and beauty professionals have clustered together offering a variety of services in one area. He and his partner realized it could be an alternative use of the former Energy Gym, rather than attempting to rent the entire space to one tenant.

Currently, a massage therapist and nail technician are among those who have rented suites in G Boutiques but spaces are still available.

Garritano said he and his partner will fully renovation a suite for its tenant including all fixtures and equipment specific to their field. The initial costs are two weeks security and one week's rent plus a one-time redecorating fee. Rents start at $350 per week.

Once a contract is signed, Garritano says it takes G Boutiques roughly 20-30 days to have a suite ready for use.  Those interested in learning more can visit it's website.
