Smithtown West Teen Loses Battle Against Cancer

Sean Cook, High School West Class of 2013, died on Friday morning.

A Smithtown West graduate has died after a two-year battle against against cancer. 

Sean Cook, Class of 2013, died Friday morning due to stage 4 Germ cell cancer, according to Smithtown West High School staff. The school district was informed early Friday morning by a close friend of the Cook family. 

Cook was a Smithtown youth bowler and a firefighter with Smithtown Fire Department. 

Many of  his friends, classmates and fellow firefighters have taken to Facebook, Twitter and other social media to remember him.

Funeral visitations for Cook are scheduled for Monday, and Tuesday, Aug. 26 and 27 from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. A funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday at 9:45 a.m. with internment to follow.
