Fire Engulfs Smithtown Home Early Monday Morning

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Firefighters from six local fire departments battled a blaze early Monday morning that ripped through a Smithtown home.

According to Tim Murphy, Second Assistant Chief for the Smithtown Fire Department, the owners of the home located at 29 Damin Circle called about a fire in their home at 1:07 a.m., and were inside at the time of the fire. The firefighters were faced with a large body of fire upon arrival.

Assisting the Smithtown Fire Department in battling the fire were members of the Hauppauge, Kings Park, St. James, Nesconset and Commack fire departments.

Murphy said the cause of the fire and where the fire exactly started is still undetermined. No firefighters were injured and the homeowners evacuated the home safely, according to Murphy.

The fire also destroyed a silver Chevy Equinox parked in the driveway.
