@ Jimmy, it's working great for them because we're paying for it. So between the people that don't…Read More contribute and generous salaries and retirement packages I'd say we're pretty screwed. How's that working?
VOTE NO........ does anyone see a trend here? "The district will tap into $4.6 million in…Read More reserves; $1 million more than administrators did last budget season." What happens when the reserves begin to dry up? Watch your taxes increase substancially more or a sweeping release of employees will have to happen. It's time to ween the BOE and unions off the gravy train one year at a time. NO MORE INCREASES>>>>>>
That sounds great. HOWEVER, they need to turn the lights out when the library is closed and there is…Read More no one in the library. I mentioned it to a couple of the trustees prior to a meeting a few months ago and they said it was a glitch in their automated system and they would make sure that the contractor took care of it right away.
Well now it's months later and I've gone past the Smithtown (Main) Library several times hours after closing time and all lights were burning brightly and there wasn't a single car in the parking lot. Just think how much they could save the taxpayers if they actually turned off the lights.
Tomorrow is the vote..vote NO NOW or our taxes are going to continue to sky rocket.
Unless we do…Read More something this town will continue to spiral down. More taxes aren't going to help.
We need to cut expenses and get ourselves on a fiscally responsible plan.
Isn't that above the cap? Funny, when another news source mentioned 5 districts that are breaking…Read More the cap they didn't mention Smithtown. Dn't worry, the district will bully and scare the parents into voting yes by threatening programs instead of doing what they need to do which is reduce administrative costs.
We can all make a statement one way or another when we vote. However, that statement should be made…Read More on a state level not the local level. Boards of Ed are powerless to do any real cost cutting. The state needs to take this on. We need real reform in Albany to reduce the ever increasing pensions and life long benefits that educators enjoy. Combine this with letting Albany decide salary increases for all educators and we can guaranty tax reductions over the next few years. Its that simple, Boards cannot do these. Lets get Albany to move on these NOW!
