Residents React to New Voting Machines
Some people didn't mind the change, while others had deep concerns.
This week's Glocal Question: Have the electronic voting machines that were used in Tuesday's primary election helped or hindered the voting process?
"I think it's hindered the voting process. My understanding is that they had a lot of problems as far as registering the votes and they had a lot of people who were administering the votes sitting on a help line trying to get the systems to work."
- Pete Magee, 46.
"They help people because now there are less errors. It's quicker and more efficient."
- Joe DeSena, 18.
"It was much easier than the old machine. I thought it turned out fantastic, I had no trouble at all. I was in and out of the polling place in about five minutes."
- Dennis McSweeney, 76.
"If it's done electrically, then what if there's a power outage or power surge, what happens to the information then? Is it going to be protected or is there going to be some kind of glitch and it has to be done all over again?"
- Malia Dent, 28.
