Grab & Go Kids Planner: Musicals, Concerts, Bowling and More

Here are five suggestions for local weekend fun activities with the kids.

If you're searching for ideas on what to do with your kids this weekend, we're here to provide some activity suggestions – from watching a musical to enjoying a concert or taking out some pins at the bowling alley, there's much fun to be had locally with the family.


Homeroom The Musical

When/Where: Thursday, March 24 at 7:30 p.m., Friday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday March 26 at 1 p.m. The shows will take place at Great Hollow Middle School in Nesconset.

Why go: Enjoy a musical performed by middle schoolers.

Pricing: $6.

The Tale of the Frog Prince

When/Where: Saturday, March 26 at 3 p.m. at the Arena Children’s Theater. The Carriage House Theater at the Suffolk County Vanderbilt Museum is located at 180 Little Neck Road in Centerport.

Why go: Kids can enjoy this audience participation comedy.

Pricing: $10


Gala Concert

When/Where: Saturday, March 26 at 7:30 p.m. – the performances will take place at Smithtown High School East and Smithtown High School West.

Why go: Enjoy music performed by the high school bands, orchestras, choruses and smaller ensembles. All the proceeds benefit the Smithtown College Scholarship Committee.

Pricing: $15 in advance includes a coffee hour before the shows starting at 6:15 p.m. Because of the size of the auditorium at Smithtown High School East tickets must be purchased in advance by visiting www.smithtowncollegescholarshipcommitte.org. Smithtown High School West has a bigger auditorium and tickets may be purchased at the door. The door price is $10 and does not include the coffee hour.


Creation Station

When/Where: Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Smithtown Special Library District, Main Branch.

Why go: Kids of all ages are welcome to create a craft.

Pricing: Free


Extreme Bowling

When/Where: Friday, March 25 and Saturday, March 26 from 8 p.m. – 1 a.m. at the AMF Smithtown Lanes.

Why go: Enjoy disco lights and on Saturday night a deejay while you bowl. Knock down the center pin and get a free game.

Pricing: $5.75 per game and $4.75 for shoes.
