Each Tuesday, we focus on local business in the Smithtown community. This week columnist Jackie Licurse explains how to be smart with credit cards this upcoming holiday season and writer Steve Pessah got the scoop from local business owners about how they are adapting to new media.

1. In her column Financially Fit, columnist and local financial coach Jackie Licurse writes about the pros and cons of taking out credit cards at different retail stores. 2. Recently divorced? Smithtown Central School District Adult Education is sponsoring a seminar titled "Understanding the Financial Issues of Divorce." Topics discussed will include spousal and child support, splitting retirement plans, property division and the financial consequences in divorce settlements. 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.

3. Social media is the latest buzzword in business - and it's catching on locally in the Main Street shops. Writer Steve Pessah interviewed many Smithtown business owners to find out how Facebook and Twitter have changed their approach to customer relations.

4. It's a Varsity Volleyball day- both Smithtown East and West are playing volleyball games at home today: 5:45 at East, 6:15 at West.
