Gas Not Pumping at Jetco [Empty in Smithtown]

If you're looking on East Main Street to get gas you have one less option as the former home to Jetco and Smithtown Auto Care is closed.

A drive past the vacant gas station, located at 320 East Main Street, is now enclosed with a chainlink fence with a "For Lease" sign along the roadway. All pumps have been pulled from the location and the entire lot is covered by dirt.

Smithtown Patch reported back in July 2011 that workers from All Island Excavating and Drainage were excavating the soil and are preparing to add new soil to the location.

There has been no activity at the location since.

Would locals benefit from another gas station? Or would a different business at this property be better for the community?
