LA Fitness Opens on Smithtown's Main Street

Management of the fitness center says the response from locals in the less than 24 hours open has been great.

After months of construction LA Fitness in the Branch Shopping Plaza on Main Street in Smithtown is now open.

The fitness center opened at 5 p.m. Thursday.

Although open for a little more than 24 hours, General Manager at the gym William Berju said the response from locals so far has been great.

"The neighborhood has been awesome, customers that have come in are really happy and really jazzed up about it, which is awesome," he said.

Berju said the sign indicating the gym was open went up at 3 p.m. and people started walking in to sign up and work out at 3:15 p.m. He also said by the end of the night a "good amount of the machines were full."

The only service not currently available at the gym is the pool, which Berju said would be open by Tuesday.

Sales Manager Dave Aigen said employees are available to give tours to perspective customers and sales staff is there morning and night to walk locals through the different packages.

The gym is open Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

"Why are Smithtown teachers continuing to pay for school supplies out of their ownRead More pocket?" Since when? Ever see the big list of supplies kids get in their folders at the end of the year for them to bring in next year? I think you're talking about the wrong school district.
