New Tapas Restaurant Coming to St. James

The former home to O's will now be Five.Five2.

With the popular St. James restaurant O's Food and Wine Bar closing, Five.Five2 will be moving in.

The new eatery will take over the 552 Route 25A location, and according to an employee, should be open by the end of October. Another employee setting up the restaurant Thursday said it will serve an international tapas cuisine.

The owner of Five.Five2 was not available for comment.

O's received four out of five stars on its Smithtown Patch business listing and in a November 2011 feature on Smithtown Patch reader Jonathan Jacobs commented, saying he was "Glad to have it back! Great food and atmosphere."

Thank you for posting this wonderful picture and story of the new restaurant in St. James. My father Victor Puzo was the owner of Victor's Lodge which was in this building from around 1958 until 1963. We did just lunch and was the place to go for all the engineer's who worked at Gyrodyne. What wonderful memories of life in St. James.

Excellent, was wonderign when someone else would come in and fill the void left by O's. Hopefully the prices will be reasonable enough to stop in each week. $8-$10 for a glass of "ok" wine is a little steep. $8-$10 for something worthwhile will keep me coming back. I hate it when you ask for a glass of wine that is retailing for $7 and they want to charge you $10 for it. 400% mark-up should be the limit!! LOL.

Also on that location when I was younger was a bar called "The Office". We would go there to see the bands who played there several nights a week. One of the bands that played there often was "The Hassles". The organ player in the Hassles was Billy Joel. We knew back then that he was destined for far more

The wine list is extensive and interesting. The menu is focused and well executed. All wines are offered by the glass, served in a quatrino. The owner, Glenn, has created a warm and inviting lounge area that offers tapas and live music. A sophisticated addition to St. James.

they call themselves a tapas bar. please five thigs to choose from and my wife and i sat for 20 minutes and no waiter or waitress stepped up even to see if we needed a drink. the little manager approached us after 15 minutes if we had a server i told him no and he said he would get us one asap. five to ten minutes later no one showed. my wife and i got up and walked out never in my life have i ever had to do that. i know all about restauanting and they need to go back to school and learn something new that place sucks all around. anyone that thinks they deliver needs to live a little outside the box. if anyone wants good food and an excellent dining experience go down the block to H2O restauant at least they dont lack the experience.

You are absolutely right pj. Its comparing apples to oranges. Assisted living is for the elderlyRead More that cant take care of themselves. What noise is created. They are indoors and at the age where driving may not be an option. And the facility faces Route 25A. A main corridor that has been used as a main road for over 50 years. A road that has gas stations, bars, hospitals, nursing homes, retail stores and high schools presently on it. Why not an assisted living.

Exactly. Don't see a problem having it. Many of them don't even go outdoors.

We have an assisted living center right next to our neighborhood. For the most part it is quiet,Read More there is not a lot more traffic, it even looks nice. I will take it over another strip mall, supermarket, bar any day . Like the previous poster wrote, it serves our community.
