Smithtown's Annual 'Dine With Wine' Week Starts Sunday

Diners may notice a slight increase this year in the prixe-fixed dinner from $25 to $27.95.

It's a foodie's delight. Dine out for deal at 23 participating Smithtown area during the annual "Dine with Wine" week. 

The Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce's 'Dine With Wine,' which begins Sunday and runs through Oct. 20, allows residents to enjoy a three-course, prixe-fixed dinner for $27.95 per person with their first glass of wine costing $5 from a select wine list. 

"The best part of restaurant week is you have such a variety of tastes including Mexican, Italian, Japanese, Chinese and Portuguese menus that are in Smthtown," said Barbara Franco, executive director of the Greater Smithtown Chamber of Commerce. "It’s really becoming a dining destination here, we have a wonderful array of restaurant offering different cuisines." 

This year, Franco said the Smithtown Chamber of Commerce has increased the per person cost of "Dine with Wine" prixe-fixe menu by nearly $3, from $25 to $27.95. 

"We’ve been holding the price at $25 for the last five years. Everything now is much more costly," she said, noting its been discussed at length with local restaurant owners. 

Franco said Smithtown's Restaurant Week price now matches the $27.95 cost of Long Island Restaurant Week. 

Cafe Havana rejoins the list of restaurants participating in Smithtown's "Dine with Wine" week after its grand re-opening earlier this years. It's special menus, which can be viewed here, offers diners choice of cuban cuisine between tropical mushroom chorizo and empanadas for appetizers; entrees feature pernil asado, a slow-roasted pork seasoned with herbs, and classic Cuban ropa vieja, shredded beef in a tomato-based sauce with sweet plantains and rice or Mofongo. 

H2O Seafood Grill in Smithtown, like many others, will offer diners a choice of dishes off a special restaurant week menu. Items on H2O's menu include lime sake mussels for an appetizer, entrees such as grilled marinated skirt steak or branzino a la plancha, and sweet triple berry cream puffs for dessert. "Restaurant week gives you an opportunity to try a different taste, a place you might not normally go and it turns out to be one of your favorites," Franco said.
