Thirsty? Phountain Offers A Taste of Alkaline Water

If the summer's heat wave has you craving water, Phountain offers a taste of something different on Smithtown Main Street. 

Phountain, a life-extension club and alkaline water store, offers tastings of alkaline water inside their store at 55 East Main Street. 

"Anything that is alkaline, water or foods, is something that has life to it and gets its energy from the soil or the sun and essentially has negative ions attached to it. It also has different vitamins and minerals, " said Xiomely Gutierrez of Phountain Health. 

Gutierrez said Phountain is a alkaline water education center that offers 30-minute classes teaching people about the  health benefits of drinking alkaline water rather than acidic drinks to restore pH balance. 

Most customers coming to the store for their first time are looking to improve their health by reducing the number of pills and medications they are one, according to Gutierrez. Roughly 30 to 40 percent of customers take an interest in Phountain's alkaline water out of concern for the tap water quality on Long Island. 

The store sells alkaline water systems for use in the home, but customers are also welcome to bring or purchase containers to fill with the water and carry home.  

"We sell the systems but 90 percent of people come in and fill their own water," Guitierrez said. "The reason we use the glass containers is there are no chemicals permeating into the water." 

The cost for alkaline water is $2.50 per gallon, or $1.90 per gallon with a pre-paid, 20-gallon card.

If you need to refresh after being out in the heat, Phountain also offers a variety of health and wellness services including ionic detox foot bath, vibration therapy, detox massage, jade massage bed and more.
